Let’s face it. We all remember things, be them happy or sad memories. I remember how I got a 100% on my important government test. But I also remember how I cried and fussed when I forgot to bring my dinosaur toy to show and tell. I also remember that was the first time I was sent to the principal’s office. At an incredibly devout protestant school, with its own church and wicked teachers that should NOT be teaching preschoolers. Not fun.
There is a well known movie out there today that most of us have seen. The Hangover. The entirety of the movie is based around how a bunch of guys are looking for their friend after having a crazy bachelor party. The three main actors can’t remember anything and they find they’ve got into a lot of “doo-doo”. But the plot does show that we can have NO idea what’s going on if we don’t remember what has happened, even if it was the night before today. The moral of the story: Don’t overdo it on the booze.
I remember how I’ve had graveyard duty for all my little deceased pets. Carrying them out to the back of my barn and burying them. It’s not fun, but it has to be done. Res in peace Disco. Rest in peace. I’ve had to take care of our animals from a young age. I don’t quite know how I got the job in the first place, but it has just been kind of a rule of thumb in this house for the past decade.
“The best way of forgetting how you is to concentrate on what you know you know”- Mary Stewart. When you stop and pat yourself on the back for the accomplishments you have completed and know you have, it gives you incentive to do more. It can range from community involvement or just taking your dog for a walk.
Writer George Santayana said in one of the most famous quotes of the last century, “Those who don’t remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” This universal quote has seemed to become a law of nature. You could steal a Mtn. Dew and get fined, but not learn from it. If you don’t learn from your mistakes, you will repeat them. That’s the basic gist of the quote if you’re slow to draw. Until next time people, and have a good March!
